The ecopark, run by our partner Antenna Trust in India, was established in 1995 in Madurai. Its main activities are livelihood improvement and income generation for poor women, nutrition improvement at a local level, and community awareness programmes.

Last October, Célia Follonier, a 23-year-old student, spent a few days at Antenna Trust to discover the centre, the team and their activities:

“This stay at the ecopark in Madurai, in the villages and slums, was extremely enriching and interesting. I am going back in December and January to set up art workshops with the children in the slums and villages.”

The aim of these art workshops is to give the children the opportunity to express themselves through their art, to learn about their rights, to connect with their own emotions, to communicate with the rest of the world, to develop their creativity and talents.

“I imagine these workshops as a very free space, where we guide the children in a specific project, without restricting their creativity and desires. With the Antenna Trust team, we are going to work and imagine these workshops together in December and January. It is important to understand the needs and possibilities on the spot and to test the children’s receptiveness in order to build this project in the most coherent and efficient way possible. The aim is to be able to launch the workshops on a regular and long-term basis in September 2023.”
